Paula Michele Wagoner
Growing up on the shores of Sanibel Island, Florida, I was immersed in the natural beauty and vibrant life of coastal landscapes from a young age. This environment profoundly influenced my artistic journey, which began with studying painting at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. My creative path led me to earn a bachelor’s degree in Writing and English from the University of North Carolina Asheville, and a master’s degree in Professional Writing and Literature from Western Carolina University.
For a decade, I served as a teacher and department chair, nurturing creativity and critical thinking. Alongside my teaching career, I frequently wrote for regional magazines, highlighting fine artists, visual artists, classically trained musicians, and novelists. These experiences enriched my understanding of the artistic community and deepened my appreciation for the diverse expressions of creativity.
My artwork is a fusion of my love for nature, literature, and mythology, often focusing on the intricate relationships between the natural world and human experience. Whether capturing the essence of coastal life, weaving in mythic narratives, or exploring the lush interplay of flora and fauna, my paintings aim to evoke a sense of wonder and connection.
I am re-emerging as an artist in this second chapter of my life. Thank you for visiting.
